How can I confirm if I have completed all the steps to make my profile available for Paid Lessons?

In order to teach Paid Lessons, it is necessary to complete our Tutor Application and have your video approved by our team. If you have reached the final step of our Tutor Application (the one that tells you that you are done with all steps) and you received the email confirming that your video was approved, then your profile is available for teaching.

As mentioned in our Tutor Guidebook and Comprehension Test, lesson confirmation is entirely determined by learners and often varies, so unfortunately we cannot predict when this will happen. It is important to remember that just because you haven't received any lessons/learners, this does not mean that your profile is not available. 

 

There are a several ways tutors can get more learners:

- Tutors with 5-star lesson ratings have more learners.

An easy way to add 5-star ratings to your account is to teach Exchange or Volunteer lessons.

- Active tutors (activity is how often a tutor logs into their profile) often have more learners.

- Tutors with complete, professional-looking profiles often have more learners.

- Tutors with more available hours in their profile often have more learners.

- Tutors with a more inclusive acceptable rate often have more learners.

If your lowest acceptable rate is higher, there may be fewer learners able to pay that rate. You can modify your acceptable rate in your Tutor Profile at any time.

It is important to keep in mind that these are recommendations, but that tutor selection is always up to learners so we cannot guarantee or predict when learners will schedule lessons.
