Why would my Exchange Lessons partner be required to pay for a lesson?

All Exchange Lessons are 100% free.

If a student is being asked to pay for a lesson, this is because a Paid Lesson was scheduled instead of an Exchange Lesson. You can see the Lesson Type listed in the lesson details on your Lessons page.

Tutors choose to schedule lessons as Exchange Lessons (which are free for students), Social Scholarship Lessons (which are free for students) or Paid Lessons (which are not free for students). When scheduling, tutors are prompted to choose the type of lesson they want to schedule. 

For students who would like to have Exchange Lessons, please make sure to choose the option Exchange Lesson and not Paid Lesson when scheduling lessons. If you schedule a Paid Lesson with a student only seeking Exchange Lessons, it will be necessary to cancel the Paid Lesson you scheduled and schedule a new lesson which is an Exchange Lesson.
